The house rules
Terms of Use
Comment freely, disagree vigorously—and remember there is another human at the other end.
Last updated 24 August 20261. Using CommentThe.net
CommentThe.net provides an independent discussion attached to public webpage addresses. It is not operated, endorsed or controlled by the owners of those webpages. Reading comments does not require an account; posting does.
You must be at least 13 and legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the service only with permission from a parent or guardian.
2. Your account
Provide a working email address, keep your password private and choose a nickname that does not impersonate or mislead. Nicknames are permanent for the life of an account; a different nickname requires a new account.
3. Your comments
You keep responsibility for what you post. Comments may be up to 1,000 characters. A main comment can be edited until somebody replies; it may still be deleted afterward. The service may limit repeated posts or other activity to protect conversations from flooding and automation.
Comments are public. Do not reveal personal details that could identify you or your location, or expose somebody else's private information.
4. Please do not
- Post spam, repetitive promotions, affiliate links or automated advertising.
- Threaten, harass, exploit, defame or target people with hateful abuse.
- Share somebody else's private information or content you have no right to publish.
- Impersonate another person, business, public body or member of the CommentThe.net team.
- Post illegal material, malicious links, malware or instructions intended to compromise systems.
- Use bots, scripts or multiple accounts to evade limits, manipulate rankings or disrupt the service.
5. Moderation
We may automatically check, refuse, hide or remove material that appears to break these Terms, and may restrict or close accounts involved in abuse. No moderation system is perfect. If something needs attention, report it through our Support page.
6. Deleting an account
You can delete your account from Settings. Account information and active sessions are removed. You must choose whether to remove your comment text or retain it under the label Deleted user. A short deletion marker may remain where it is needed to preserve another person's reply.
7. Availability and responsibility
The service is supplied as available and may change, pause or occasionally be unavailable. Comments are user-generated and may be inaccurate or offensive; they are not advice from CommentThe.net. To the extent the law permits, we are not responsible for losses caused by relying on user comments or third-party webpages and links.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without removing any mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live.
